For most people the ultimate way to revisit their childhood era of handheld gaming is with the Analogue Pocket, but they’ve just one upp’d themselves with the Glow special edition set to launch next month. The company is introducing a glow-in-the-dark handheld device named the “Pocket Glow,” which will be offered in “extremely limited quantities” at $250 each. Sales will commence on September 1st at 8 AM PDT/11 AM EDT, with shipping beginning on September 5th.
Unique Glow in the Dark look
This unique console utilises a material that absorbs and then emits light, requiring exposure to direct sunlight, incandescent lighting, or blacklight to activate the glow effect. It can radiate light for up to eight hours, although the exact charging duration for this full duration is uncertain. Similar to the original Pocket, it offers native compatibility with cartridges from various Game Boy iterations and can play cartridges from other handheld consoles with the assistance of an adapter.
Analogue Pocket Glow Pre Order
In addition to the Pocket Glow launch, Analogue has also revealed that all pre-orders for this handheld will be shipped by today. The original Analogue Pocket was released in December 2021 following multiple delays, with pre-purchased units being dispatched to customers in successive batches. Those seeking accessories for their consoles should explore Analogue’s store, as a substantial restock is scheduled for today. Notably, the company is introducing a new domestic shipping option for US customers in an effort to reduce the perceived “exorbitant” shipping fees, potentially lowering costs by 30 to 50 percent.
