Review Ethics

At the Talisman our reviews tell you whether or not we liked something and why. Plain and simple, whether in-house or from our contributors our reviews aim to equip you with enough information, analysis and context to decide whether you will find a product interesting or useful.

We select products for review based on what we feel will interest you, but also we review as interested users – our contributors love what they do, and each person has an individual interest and aesthetic and Talisman encapsulates that.

We select reviewers/contributors based on their interests, experience and general enthusiasm for a product.

The review is discussed with an editor or editors before publication but remains the professional judgment of the reviewer. The reviewer sets recommendations; editors may propose changes to them for clarity, but these are only ever made with the reviewer’s agreement.

Sponsored Posts

We follow a simple process for sponsored posts. Everything is clearly identified and we are upfront about what products we’ve received to review. All products that have been received will be clearly identified to keep our own integrity, as we work with contributors and follow a direct-to-reviewer model as an editor/s we double check all sponsored posts to make sure they are informationally correct before publication.
